The Pembroke Youth Mural Project follows the successful completion of OV-CAOS’s “The Dreamer” mural with the Yakka Youth Centre at the Salvation Army in Pembroke Ontario, and led by OV-CAOS artist Megan Spencer. At the request of the youth for more creative opportunities in the City of Pembroke, the creation a new mosaic mural with mentorship from Red Dress Productions was proposed by OV-CAOS for installation in the downtown area. In June 2018, this proposal was granted by the Ontario Arts Council (OAC).
Over 40 youth were engaged in the design and creation of this mural which was installed and unveiled in September 2019 at the Family & Children’s Services of Renfrew County’s Winning Kids Centre. This mural exists as an expression of how the youth artists of Pembroke are feeling inside, seeding ideas out into the world, connecting to the natural world and the places they live in.
